Geosculptures on the beach

Learners used their creative skills to produce a sculpture that represented something they had learnt on the trip.
They could only use materials found on the beach.

Day 2 Cherating; beach here we come!

We left a soggy Bukit Tinggi behind and started the journey to the East Coast.  The journey went surprisingly quickly as 99% of the bus slept!  As seems to be the case with all our coach journey's on this trip, the rain followed us all the way to the Suria Cherating Beach Resort :(  Not to worry though, the minute we finished lunch and started the activities the sun came out to greet us.

The afternoon was spent investigating the beach, coastal processes and the impacts of tourism.  The learners began by describing and sketching what they saw and considering how tourists might use the area.

We then went for a walk along the beach to see if we could find the answers to any of our questions.

The day has arrived!

After months of planning and lots of excitement the year 8 learners gathered in the canteen ready for the journey to Bukit Tinggi.

We arrived in the highlands in mist and a light drizzle. It didn't dampen our mood as we had morning tea and a great introduction to our surroundings and the finer points of movie editing.  Skills we will be putting into practise later in the trip.

After checking into our rooms the sun came out and we got ready for the really fun stuff.  A short trek brought us to the activity area including rope walking, lazer quest, anaconda and other exciting team building activities. Lots of pictures of rolling around on the floor and splashing in the water!

The pinnacle of the afternoon was applying all the team skills we possessed to build and then race our own rafts! Suffice to say the Olympics is still a little way off :D
